1. निम्नलिखित आवतरर्णों को पढ़िए और नीचे दिए गए प्रश्नों के उत्तर लिखिए|

क) दोनों घंटों साथ बैठते, बातें करते|
प्रश्न :
i) 'दोनों' - शब्द से किस-किस की ओर संकेत किया गया है?
ii) वे दोनों किसके यहां काम करते थे?
iii) दोनों में कौन सी बात समान थी?
iv) किस घटना से स्पष्ट होता है कि दोनों में बहुत मित्रता थी?

  उत्तर:

i) 'दोनों' शब्द का प्रयोग इंजीनियर बाबू जगत सिंह के नौकर रसीला और उनके पड़ोस में रहने वाले ज़िला मजिस्ट्रेट शेख सलीमुद्दीन के चौकीदार रमज़ान के लिए किया गया है|

ii) रसीला इंजीनियर बाबू जगत सिंह के घर में काम करता था और रमज़ान ज़िला मजिस्ट्रेट शेख सलीमुद्दीन के घर चौकीदार था|

iii) रसीला और रमज़ान में गहरी मित्रता थी| जब भी अवसर मिलता दोनों बैठकर घंटों बातें करते और एक दूसरे का सुख दुख बाँटते थे| दोनों में यह समानता थी कि दोनों ही गरीब थे और एक दूसरे की सहायता करने वाले व्यक्ति थे| दोनों बहुत ही सरल स्वभाव के थे| छल - कपट से वे कोसों दूर थे|

iv) रसीला का पूरा परिवार गांव में रहता था| एक बार रसीला के बच्चे बीमार हो गए| गांव से खत आने पर उसे बच्चों की बीमारी का पता चला, परंतु उसके पास इलाज के लिए पैसे नहीं थे| रसीला ने अपने मालिक से पेशगी के रूप में कुछ रुपयों की मांग की, मगर उन्होंने रुपए नहीं दिए| जब रमज़ान को इस बात का पता चला, तो उसने कुछ रुपए रसीला को दिए और रसीला के बच्चों की दवा के लिए रुपये गाँव भेज दिए| इस घटना से पता चलता है कि रसीला और रमज़ान में बहुत ही गहरी दोस्ती है| सुख-दुख में दोनों एक दूसरे का ख्याल रखते हैं|

ख) 'कोई बात नहीं तो खाओ सौगंध'|

 उत्तर:
 i) उपर्युक्त कथन रमज़ान ने, रसीला से कहा| रसीला इंजीनियर बाबू जगत सिंह के यहाँ नौकर था तथा रमज़ान उनके पड़ोसी ज़िला मजिस्ट्रेट शेख सलीमुद्दीन के यहाँ चौकीदार था| रमजान और रसीला दोनों मित्र हैं रसीला परेशानी में है रमज़ान उसको सौगंध देकर पूछता है कि मुझे पूरी बात बताओ कि तुम परेशान क्यों हो?

ii) वकता रमजान है| एक दिन रमज़ान ने रसीला को उदास देखा तो उसने उदासी का कारण पूछा| रसीला अपनी उदासी को छुपाता रहता, तभी रमज़ान ने उससे उपर्युक्त वाक्य कहा|

iii) रसीला का परिवार गांव में रहता था उसके परिवार में बूढ़े पिता, पत्नी, एक लड़की और दो लड़के थे|उसका वेतन केवल दस रूपए मासिक था| एक दिन उसके घर से खत आया, जिसमें लिखा था कि बच्चे बीमार है| उनके इलाज के लिए रसीला के पास रुपए नहीं है| रसीला रमज़ान को अपनी यह समस्या बताई|

iv)  रमज़ान ने रसीला से पूछा कि उसने अपने मालिक से पेशगी के रूप में कुछ रुपए क्यों नहीं माँग लिए? रसीला ने बताया कि उसने मालिक से पेशगी के रूप में कुछ रुपए देने की प्रार्थना की थी, मगर उसके मालिक ने रुपए देने से साफ इंकार कर दिया तब रमज़ान ने कुछ रुपए रसीला को देकर उसकी समस्या का समाधान किया|

Ans. He carried a crook tied at the end of a bamboo pole and snapped foliage from the avenue trees, to feed his flock. He also gathered faggots and dry stick, bundled them, and carry them home for fuel.

Ans. The maximum strength of the Lok Sabha, provided by the Constitution is 552.

6. State the composition of the Lok Sabha.

Ans. A Quorum implies the minimum number of members required to be present before a meeting is allowed to begin. The quorum of the Lok Sabha is one tenth of the total membership of each house.

16. Mention three important powers and functions of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.

Ans. (i) The Speaker of the Lok Sabha presides over the meetings of the House and maintains discipline and decorum therein. All speeches and remarks made by members of the House are addressed to him.
(ii) The Speaker is the chief spokesperson of the House and reports to the President, the affairs of the House. He is, thus a link between the President and the House.
(iii) The Speaker decides the admissibility of questions and all resolutions. He is the final judge to decide on the admissibility of a Motion of Adjournment.

17. What are the advantages of Lok Sabha.

Ans. The Lok Sabha occupies a Central position in Indian polity. Its advantages are as follows:
(a) The Lok Sabha acts as the Mirror and Voice of the nation, as its members are elected directly by the people, who are the ultimate source of all power.
(b) It is the Lok Sabha, which actually controls the Executive. The Council of Ministers is responsible to the Lok Sabha. Infact, it is the vote of No-Confidence passed in the Lok Sabha that can oust the Government from office.

18. How are the member of the Rajya Sabha elected? Who presides over the Rajya Sabha? Who elects the Deputy Chairman?

Ans. The members of the Rajya Sabha are elected by elected members of the State Legislative Assemblies in accordance with a system of proportional representation by means of single transferable vote.

19. Who presides over the meetings of the Rajya Sabha in the absence of the Vice-President of India?

Ans. The Deputy Chairman performs all functions and duties of the Chairman, in his absence.
